Sea Glass information
Sea glass is naturally weathered glass found on beaches along saltwater bodies. It originates from discarded glass products like bottles and jars, which have been tumbled and smoothed by the oceans waves and sand over many years. This process creates smooth and frosted pieces that are often collected for their beauty and unique appearance.
Why is sea glass so special?
Unlike common gemstones sea glass is rare by nature, as much of it originates from old glassware that has undergone decades or centuries of natural refinement. As a result genuine sea glass holds more value than its original bottles or glasses.
Sea glass rarity by colour.
Common: white, green and brown
Less common: seafoam green, olive green, forest green and dark brown.
Rare: light aqua blue, soft blue and amber
Very rare: dark aqua blue, cobalt blue, cornflower blue, turquoise, teal and lime.
Extremely rare: purple, yellow, grey and pink.
Rarest of all: red, orange multi-coloured
What are the benefits of wearing sea glass?
Many people feel that sea glass can absorb negative energy and replace it with a sense of peace and tranquillity. If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally drained, holding a piece of sea glass or wearing it as jewellery can help ground you and restorer your emotional balance.
